A little bit about me

I live in Nailsworth, set in one of Stroud’s beautiful valleys, with my wife. I retired from my work doing knowledge management consulting in 2016, and have been busy ever since.

I am a co-founder of Nailsworth Climate Action Network and a Fellow of The Schumacher Institute, where I co-authored their Community Climate Action Toolkit. I run Climate Corner at Nailsworth Library on the first friday of every month, from 1030 to 1230. I am passionate about net zero solutions that can really make a big difference, such as heat pumps, and have written an influential piece about this Insulate Britain! Yes, but by how much?

I have self-published a book Trusted Knowledge in a digital and fragmented world of work which is a synthesis of my experiences with organisations in many countries and sectors, and how to better curate and deploy knowledge, and not to squander institutional memory.

I am devoting as much of my time as I can to my art, and am indebted to inspiring artist-mentors in the neighbourhood who have helped me on my journey.

I see many parallels between how scientists and artists think about the world, as I wrote about in Experiments in Art and Science.
